I was looking through my CD well, mp3 compilation lately and couldn’t help observing how many Irish artists I am a fan of. Ireland has always been home to the best sounds of music. A selection of the artists from the Irish entertainment industry whose music I have include some Irish bands and artists you may know of …U2, The Corrs, Enya, Westlife, Snow Patrol, The Script, Van Morrison and Bell X1, to name just a few. The odd time you’d forget that singers such as Van Morrison are Irish musicians, their work sounds so universal. They actualize all new music while also managing to retain their Irish roots. These Irish musicians have been able to fit themselves handily into the international music scene while at the same time managing to remain influenced by Irish music, particularly in the case of musicians such as Enya and The Corrs.
Irish entertainment isn’t just about the country’s admirable range of musicians and singers though, I have noticed a big number of Irish actors are in the media’s attention at the moment. Many Irish actors such as Jonathan Rhys Myers, Saoirse Ronan, and Colin Farrell are making more and more of an impression on the international movie industry every day. Needless to say, they are not the only well known Irish actors out there as the lovable Brendan Gleeson has definitely made his mark in recent years, as well as Colm Meaney. Even Irish American actors are making it big in the global entertainment industry. One of my fave Irish American actresses now a days is Olivia Wilde. I adore perusing all the newest entertainment news and gossip to find out what films they might be involved in or who they might be hanging out with – it’s a guilty pleasure of mine. I admit that I check out entertainment blogs at least twice a day to see what’s going on with my favorite stars. I also love to see the Irish music industry flourishing too and it’s brilliant that films and TV series are still being filmed in Ireland and by Irish people, it’s a great boost for the economy.
